Any misplay or lack of luck earlier would've meant I'd loseĪnd that made it more fun. As far as my Modern build of the deck, usually it's just too overwhelming but my friend reworked his deck to include a bit more removal and some lower cost spells and I narrowly won our last game on 1 life. I won't be going for the absolute most optimised possible deck, and to a lot of experienced players, that would probably render the deck (relatively) easily beatable, which is why I'm asking what options there are to handle it The only major Sliver in the deck IS Hivelord, I can't afford to buy Queen, Overlord, First Sliver, or any other legendary slivers. ![]() Update: Okay just to clarify one other thing about this Sliver build. Note, for clarification: the main issue they seem to have is that Indestructible is too powerful of an ability to grant to my entire board, especially if it gets combined with effects like Flying or Deathtouch Now, I do see where they're coming from, but is it really that OP, or is it just because we're newer players? How would you play against that sort of deck? And if you do think it would be too powerful, what things could I keep in mind while building/playing with it to make it a more palatable/fun deck for my friends to play against? I've been thinking about making a commander version of my Sliver deck, but my friends think it would be too OP and wouldn't want to play against it. In my experience Sl1ver is the best commander for a generic sliver deck.Okay so I have a Modern Slivers deck and recently I used a bit of spare money I had to buy Sliver Overlord. Sliver Overlord provides more consistency than the First Sliver, but the First Sliver is much, much more explosive. Since slivers you cascade into also have cascade, sl1ver provides explosiveness that no other commander can match. Even if countered or removed, Sl1ver provides immediate value, and often ramps you into re-casting her(?) in the event of removal. The First Sliver (Sl1ver): What it lacks in tutorability it makes up for in board impact. Due to this, IMO sliver overlord is slightly worse than the first sliver. The lines are harder when the deck is a toolbox, but the real shortcoming is sloverlord's lack of an immediate board impact, which leaves your game plan vulnerable to spot removal. The tutorability makes him(?) the most versatile of the group, and makes the deck function on a higher level than any other commander. Sliver Overlord (sloverlord): Head and shoulders better than the last 3 commanders. It can't protect itself, but still usually forces someone to have "it" It comes down and immediately pumps your team, threatening victory if left unanswered. Sliver legion (Slegion): My pick for 3rd strongest. Also the only commander that isn't a 7/7, which is lame. Indestructible is nice, but most white decks have some way to exile. Sliver Hivelord (Slivelord): The 4th least powerful in my opinion. In a deck dedicated to combos with her she could be stronger. Sliver queen (Squeen): She feels the most flavorful, but in my general list that isn't built around her she's certainly the weakest of the commanders. My deck is mostly slivers and rocks, with a few big non-sliver spells like door of destinies, wild pair, primal surge, etc. I use all 5 legends regularly and cycle through them as commanders. Great in the 99, not as much in the command zone, from what I’ve played.) ![]() (I really don’t enjoy the queen as much as a commander, it’s just a combo piece that doesn’t allow a tutor for the other pieces. Giving all your creatures a huge pump, indestructible, cascade, or a tutor. Really any of the sliver legendaries are super fun to play. The first sliver is a blast to play and I have tutored for it as a win con, so it can definitely win games, and if it is more fun for you then by all means, use it. If you’re playing in a higher power meta I definitely would suggest the overlord. I usually would like grab some kind of protection, depending on what the board looks like, but more often than not I’m grabbing a piece to answer a threat, something like ]. I tend to use the overlord as I can get answers to my hand. Not Cedh, but some of the best decks for the chosen commander. In my meta people tend to run highly tuned to optimized decks. It really depends on what you want to do.
